Rock Mass Characterization in Illinois Coal Mines

Southern Illinois University
Illinois Clean Coal Institute
2013-2014

Project Description:
This research is to evaluate rock mass properties of abandoned Illinois coal mines and to establish failure hazard maps for the studied mines. A strength criterion known as Coal Mine Roof Rating (CMRR) is used to evaluate strength conditions of the coal mine roofs.
