Numerical Modeling in Geotechnical Engineering - October 2014- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVE
Main subject of the workshop is the use of numerical modeling in different geotechnical engineering topics. Computer exercises are performed with FLAC code which is a prominent program for several geotechnical and mining purposes. During this workshop the following topics will be considered:
  •  Introduction to numerical modeling, finite difference method and the basic functionality of FLAC
  •  Finite difference modeling and basic topics of computational geotechnical engineering including geometry modeling, constitutive models, boundary conditions, solving and monitoring process
  • Numerical modeling of shallow and deep foundations
  •  Numerical modeling of excavation and slope stability problems
  • Seismic considerations in numerical modeling
